Celebrating the Resiliency of the Supply Chain
In honor of National Transportation Week in May The Traffic Club of Philadelphia and PANAPICS, CSCMP and Lehigh Valley Traffic Club are having a JOINT Virtual meeting on Zoom to celebrate this event. In 1962 Congress established this week in May to honor and promote the interests of the transportation industry for the benefit of the national welfare throughout all communities. National Defense Transportation Day, which occurs annually on the third Friday of May, remembers the contributions of people working in the United States' transport industry. It is part of National Transportation Week. Careers in the transport industry contribute $565 billion to US GDP each year. We are thankful to all of the transportation and logistics 'essential workers' who have heroically kept the economy going during this pandemic. You are invited to join both organizations to celebrate this event.
Featuring speakers working within industries that truly supported pandemic life (grocery, pharmaceuticals, transportation etc) and discussing how some businesses pivoted to create new supply chains and / or made permanent changes to their business model as a result of COVID 19. NO SLIDES!

Dr. Terry Esper, OSU
Dr. Terry L. Esper is Associate Professor of Logistics in the Marketing and Logistics Department at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. In addition to his full-time academic activities at Ohio State, Esper also serves on faculty for the University of Iowa CIMBA Italy Program, is on the Board of Directors of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and CBUS Retail, and serves as an Educational Advisor to the Health and Personal Care Logistics Conference. He has published several articles on issues associated with retail, logistics, and supply chain management strategy in leading academic and managerial outlets. Dr. Esper is a regular speaker at global conferences, where he builds on his research insights and accumulated experiences to engage in dialogue regarding trends and issues in strategic logistics and supply chain management practice. Esper is also a regularly featured guest on a Sirius XM Radio show, and a regular contributor to NPR Marketplace. Prior to his Doctoral studies in Marketing and Logistics at the University of Arkansas, Esper worked for Hallmark Cards as a Transportation Manager for Hallmark Specialty Retail and Hallmark.com, and was involved in transportation infrastructure research for the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration.

Clyde Coleman, Performance Food Group
Clyde Coleman is the Senior Director of Operations at Performance Food Group, where he has responsibilities for redistribution, carrier management, inbound freight management, 3rd party unloading services and other logistics responsibilities.
Prior to joining PFG, Clyde was the Manager of Supply Chain Optimization at Sysco Corporation, in this role he focused on redistribution, carrier development and dedicated carrier programs for redistribution centers. During his 10 years at Sysco he held various positions throughout the organization.
He has attended or participated in several conferences over the years and just to name a few AFFI, IANA, Food Shipper of America, CSX and BNSF. He has served on the Logistics Advisory Committee for Lone Star Community College, Tuskegee University and actively involved in Jackson State University Alumni.
Clyde received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and bowling.

Rich Hernandez, Perdue
Rich is the Vice President of Transportation and Warehousing with responsibilities for national distribution at Perdue Farms. This includes transportation, logistics, garage maintenance and warehousing functions. His duties are primarily focused on strategic supply chain thought leadership and hands on operational leadership; delivering a high level of customer service at a competitive cost. He has 6 direct reports at the leadership level.
Prior to his joining Perdue Farms, Rich has more than 17 years of management experience. He was with PepsiCo for 10 years where he held several transportation leadership positions. He was most recently the Inbound Transportation Director for Pepsi Logistics. His tenure at PepsiCo, Target, Corning Inc and the U.S. Navy has provided a broad band of leadership and management experience in transportation, engineering and operations.
He grew up in Connecticut and attended the United States Naval Academy, where he obtained a BS in Mathematics and a commission as a Naval Officer. He and his wife, Jenn, have three children and reside in Salisbury, MD.
Jeff Jagiela, Pfizer Global Supply
Jeff is the Director, Logistics Platform Services within InterCompany Operations at Pfizer.
He leads a team responsible for aligning InterCompany (IO) logistics strategies and operations with global logistics services and process. The team also serves as the main liaison with Digital Technology to identify and implement enabling technologies that deliver logistics excellence.
He also leads a cross-functional “Hub” that supports overall IO performance, delivering data visualization and analytics to drive and anticipate continuous improvement.
Over the past 9 months an added focus has been to lead a collaborative effort, designing and implementing the InterCompany Operations strategy to deliver Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, consisting of a Customer Service and Control Tower response.
With 35 years overall experience in pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, and consumer healthcare, in addition to his current Pfizer experience, he’s worked with Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Johnson & Johnson, holding responsibilities within Customer Service, Global Logistics, Manufacturing Operations, Materials Management, Procurement, and e-business
He’s been married 34 years to his favorite girl, and has 3 children.
