    ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE JOB DESCRIPTION

    DEPARTMENT: Commission Sales

    REPORTS TO: Branch Manager, Sr. Vice President, Sr. Vice President Sales and Marketing

    STATUS: Exempt

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Account Executive is responsible for generating new sales, maintaining and endeavoring to expand business with existing customers between J&E Transportation Services and Northstar Service Ltd. offices, partners and agents.

    DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

    Essential:

    ·        Generate new sales in all modes of transportation including and not limited to Full Truckload, L.T.L, Flatbed, Van, Reefer, Intermodal Rail, Dump Truck, Import/Export Full Container, Warehousing and Trans-Loading.

    ·        Work with local Branch Managers to expand new business.

    ·        In cooperation with J&E Transportation Services, customize sales specifically to targeted Major Accounts in the given sales territory. 

    ·        Must spend 100% of working time engaged in making in-person sales calls and telemarketing or other service related activities away from the place of business.

    ·        Record all Sales Leads and Routing Orders and present to management when requested.

    ·        Maintain a profit level or 10-20% above costs and a minimum of $75 per invoice.

    ·        Participate in scheduled sales Tele-conference calls.

    ·        Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Branch Manager, Sales Manager or President.

    ·        Conduct oneself in a proper professional business manner at all times when speaking to customers and communicating with employees of J&E Transportation Services.

    QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

    Education & Experience:

    ·        Employee must have 4 year high school diploma and preferably a minimum of 1-2 years of college or military service or 2 years of sales or equivalent industry experience.

    ·        Employee must have good knowledge and experience in sales.

    ·        Employee must have five years of experience in the domestic freight brokerage and/or freight forwarding or logistics industry.

    ·        Employee must have a good knowledge of customer service techniques.

    ·        Employee must have the ability to use basic math skills to calculate freight, storage, duty and other charges.

    ·        Employee must have basic computer knowledge to include Windows and Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.

    ·        Employee must have basic accounting knowledge.
